My dinner party

The country is in China. It was a New Year night. A man and his wife are giving a large party.The man's name is Tony and his wife's name is Abby. They were talking to their guests -Abby's old classmetes and Tony's friends. In their commodious dinning room, which has a long rosewood table and a soft sofa.

  "This house is so big and luxury, a woman said."That was Abby's best friend during school. Her name is Lily. Abby hugged
her and almost cry.The sat in a corner and chatted of old times.After their chat, Tony and Abby thought they should start the party because all their friends have already arrived their house.

  The wine, turkey, cake,chips,cookie were on the long rosewood table.Tony and his wife want to celebrate the new year with their old friends.Abby turned on speaker and played the light music. Then Tony exclaimed"Thanks of everyone coming this party and enjoy it. Some of people were waking around in the dinning room. They had a chat, get some food and drinks.

  Tony was chatting with his friends and drinking the whisky.One guy standed up and go to the washroom. His name is Allen.When he was back, Tony and Abby's dog was lying on the floor. He tread the dog and he didn't notice it until the dog scearmed and the dog run into the bedroom. At the same time, Allen jumped on the sofa and cried"oh my god!!!" And everybody stopped talking and watching him. Silence for three seconds, everyone were laughing at him. One of the guest asked him, "how come you didn't notice the dog and so scared of it." Allen said, i thought that's a carpet. And he can't answer the second question. I thought you are a brave guy, one man yelled out. Allen jumped down on the floor and he felt very embarassing. No one knew this secret before.

乡愁    余光中
 
  小时候，乡愁是一枚小小的邮票，我在这头，母亲在那头。 
  长大后，乡愁是一张窄窄的船票，我在这头，新娘在那头。 
  后来啊，乡愁是一方矮矮的坟墓，我在外头，母亲在里头。 
  而现在，乡愁是一湾浅浅的海峡，我在这头，大陆在那头。

  This is my favorite poem I have been read. This poem talks about homesickness of the author.The background of the author: "Because of the war, he moved to taiwan from mainland. After the war, he wants to come back to mainland but he can't. He was very miss his hometown.

  "而现在，乡愁是一湾浅浅的海峡，我在这头，大陆在那头。"


  "And now, homesickness is a shallow strait, I'm on this side, the mainland on other side."

This is favorite sentence of this poem. I think this poem is wonderful because the author wants to express how he miss the hometown. I'm attend the school in Canada. I left my hometown, sometimes I'll miss my country. If i read this poem,i'll feel better because it's nothing. I just left my country for few months. I have learned a lot from this poem. Don't give up for any time and how happiness i am.
